Formwork vs Typeform: what each plan gives you for logic, uploads and resume
Typeform is the benchmark for forms that feel like a conversation, and its paid plans come with a wide integrations list. Formwork covers much of the same ground (logic, quizzes, one question at a time, uploads) at lower plan prices, and puts versioned publishing and respondent-side resume on every plan, Free included.
| Feature | Formwork | Typeform |
|---|---|---|
| Building | ||
| Drafts and versions | Every form starts as a draft. Publishing saves an immutable version, and each response stays tied to the version it answered. You can diff and restore. | The pricing page lists no version history or draft feature, so we could not verify how Typeform handles either.Typeform may offer this; it is not documented on the pages we could read. |
| Forms, questions and AI | 22 answer types plus 5 content blocks, including ranking, slider, NPS, signature and address. Free covers the basic set; grids, ranking, uploads and signature need Pro. No AI form generation. | Unlimited forms and unlimited questions per form on paid plans. AI-powered form creation is listed from Basic up. |
| One question at a time | One-question-at-a-time is a form setting called focus mode. It is included from Pro up; Free uses the classic all-questions layout. | Typeform describes its forms as conversational. Its pricing page shows no plan gate on the format, and its logic docs do not name a one-question-at-a-time setting. |
| Themes and branding | Free has 2 theme presets. Pro adds full colours, fonts, cover, logo and badge removal; Team adds custom CSS. There are no custom domains yet. | Premium themes, brand kit, custom subdomain and Typeform branding removal start on Plus. Custom fonts and a custom domain are Enterprise only. |
| Logic and quizzes | ||
| Branching and calculations | Show or hide any question and route between pages, endings, URLs or a disqualify exit, with AND/OR groups, calculated fields and piping. Pro and up; Free has no logic. | Logic jumps, recall, scores and calculations, hidden fields and multiple endings are listed on every paid plan, Basic and up.The Free plan's terms are not on the pricing page. |
| Quizzes | Built-in quiz mode with points, partial credit, numeric tolerance, a timer, retry, a manual grading queue and immediate or manual score release. Pro and up. | Knowledge quizzes and outcome quizzes are built from logic, scores and calculations, on every paid plan. |
| Collecting | ||
| Partial responses and resume | Respondents get a server-side draft with a resume link and a same-browser cookie, no account needed. Drafts are kept 30 days. Owners can list or purge unfinished responses. On every plan. | Paid plans collect partial responses for the owner: 1 submit point on Basic and Plus, 3 on Business. For forms with logic or scoring, the page says a Growth plan is needed.The page describes partial responses for owners, not a respondent-side resume. |
| File uploads | Respondents need no sign-in. Each question sets file type, size and count. Free has uploads off; Pro includes 1 GB of storage and Team 25 GB. | 1 GB on Basic, 2 GB on Plus, 4 GB on Business and above. The pricing page does not say if that is per file or in total. |
| Spam and duplicates | Password, open and close dates, response cap, one response per account or device, and sign-in required, from Pro up. Honeypot and rate limits run on every form; Cloudflare Turnstile is optional. | reCAPTCHA starts on Plus. Preventing duplicate responses is listed for Growth Flow but not for Basic, Plus or Business. |
| Results | ||
| Analytics | Free shows counts and simple charts. Pro adds a views-to-submits funnel, drop-off per page, device and source split, cross-tabs, saved filters and quiz analysis. | Views, starts, completion rate and time to complete on paid plans. Question drop-off analysis starts on Business. AI Smart Insights is listed for Growth Flow, not Basic, Plus or Business. |
| Exports | CSV on every plan. XLSX, JSON and a ZIP of uploaded files come with Pro; scheduled email exports and a public results link come with Team. | Responses download as XLSX or CSV on every paid plan. |
| Integrations | ||
| Apps | No native app integrations, and no Google Sheets, Slack or Zapier app. You connect tools through webhooks and the REST API. | 500+ integrations through Zapier, plus Google Sheets, Airtable, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Mailchimp, Slack and Calendly on all paid plans. Salesforce and Google Analytics start on Business. |
| Webhooks and API | Signed webhooks (HMAC) with up to six attempts, a delivery log and replay: 3 endpoints on Pro, 25 on Team. REST API with scoped keys: read on Pro, read and write on Team. | Webhooks and the API are listed on every paid plan. |
| Team and data | ||
| Seats and roles | Members: 1 on Free and Pro, 10 on Team, unlimited on Enterprise. Owner, editor and viewer roles at workspace and form level; comments, live presence and an audit log on Team. | 1 seat on Basic, 3 on Plus, 5 on Business. Roles and permissions start on Plus. Unlimited viewer seats are Enterprise only. |
| Data location and compliance | No region picker. Respondent IPs are stored only as salted hashes, drafts and trash are purged after 30 days, and accounts can be exported or deleted. No per-form retention setting. | A US or EU data center, HIPAA and SSO are tagged Enterprise only. GDPR compliance and two-factor sign-in are listed on every paid plan. |
| Pricing | ||
| Paid plans | Free: 5 live forms and 100 responses a month. Pro $15 a month ($12 billed yearly) for 2,000 responses. Team $39 ($32 yearly) for 10,000 responses and 10 members. Enterprise is custom. | Basic is $28 a month billed yearly ($39 monthly) for 100 responses. Plus is $56 ($79) for 1,000, and Business $91 ($129) for 10,000. Add-ons raise the monthly maximum.The pricing page shows two price sets in different sections; we used the top plan cards. Formwork plan limits are launch defaults. |
| Free plan | At the monthly cap a form stops taking new responses until the month resets or the owner upgrades. Responses already collected are kept. Free is 5 live forms and 100 responses a month. | A free plan exists and the pricing page gives no numbers. A 2021 staff reply in Typeform's community listed 10 responses a month and 10 questions per form.Check the current free limits before you build on them. |
The short version
Who should pick which
Pick Typeform if design polish, its template library and the depth of its integrations matter most, or if you need a US or EU data-center choice, HIPAA or SSO on an Enterprise contract. Pick Formwork if you want branching, quizzes and one-question-at-a-time from a lower price, with drafts and versions that keep old responses intact. Formwork has no native app integrations, so anything beyond webhooks and the API is yours to wire up. Where Typeform is the better pick: teams that want a polished, established product with 500+ integrations through Zapier plus direct Salesforce, HubSpot and Google Sheets connections.
