Why it exists

Forms are the first thing many people build and the last thing they maintain. You launch one, answers start arriving, and then you need to fix a typo, add a question or drop an option. In most tools that edit rewrites history: the old answers are now attached to a question that reads differently.

Formwork started from that one problem. A form has a draft and a published version. Editing changes the draft. Publishing freezes a version. Every response remembers the version it was answered on. Everything else in the product follows from that decision.

What we care about

Answers first. The person filling in your form is doing you a favour. Save their progress, keep the page fast on a phone, and never lose what they typed.

Honest tooling. Analytics should tell you which question people quit at, not give you a chart to admire. Comparisons should say where another tool is better. Pricing should be readable.

Small surface, done properly. Twenty-two question types, logic on all of them, quizzes, a results view, webhooks and an API. We would rather finish those than add a hundred integrations.

How it is built

Formwork is a server-rendered PHP application with a MySQL-compatible database. The public site you are reading has no tracking scripts, no third-party fonts and no build step. Forms load only their own code.
